OAT vs Tauck Spain tours

Hi Everyone: I've taken one terrific trip with OAT to Scotland and enjoyed it very much. A friend wants to take a trip with me to Northern Spain but wants to go Tauck. It's literally double the price of OAT. It also goes to Barcelona where I don't want to travel to since I've been there and before the locals were mad at tourists. My cousin recently visited and was harassed just walking down the street with her husband who was pushed around.
OAT trip goes directly to the smaller cities I want to visit.
Any suggestions or comments on either tour company and value to expense ratio? Tour guides?
Thanks
MM

Tauck is known for luxury/higher end, therefore more expensive travel. But they also typically include things and 'fancier' excursions other tours charge as extra add on's or don't offer at all.

Not surprised there is that much price difference -- definitely compare the hotel options and other inclusions. Most likely the Tauck accommodations are deluxe or above, and OAT are more middle of the road.

Make sure to break down the pricing.
Price the optional excursions from OAT which might be included in the Tauck tours. We did this with a Tauck tour and found it was only about $150 more and had much nicer hotel and meal options.

I was in Munich this week and I met a group of travelers who were on a Tauck tour.
They were staying at our hotel, the VIERJAHRETZEITEN, which must be among the top hotels in Germany, if not in Europe.
So fabulous we didi not want to leave our room.
So if that is the kind of hotel that Tauck uses, and if hotels are important to you, I would go with Tauck.
We saw the beautiful sparkling new bus that was to take the Tauck group to Salzburg after their stay in Munich. It was like a limousine bus.....

You can easily get away from the tourist zones in Barcelona......you would not want to be in the Las Ramblas area anyway. Why, when Barcelona has so much more to offer????

I've never taken a tour but if I did, and I could afford it, Tauck is the one I would choose. My cousin has taken a few,, one to Africa, and thought it was tops.

The two posters, above, have given you what I think is excellent advice.
Mind you, the Munich hotel prices for the week we were there,, when the Tauck group was there, began at about a thousand euros...and it was included on their tour!!!! (Oktoberfest)

They are really two different type of companies. I did OAT to Egypt and Tauck to the SW USA. Tauck is much higher end. Both had good guides, but Tauck will be staying at 4 star hotel and significantly better dining too. OAT is 3 star. OAT is still a great company, and really caters to women travelers and single travelers. If you are not picky about hotels and dinning, and watching your travel budget, can't go wrong with OAT.
