Ideal location for exploring London & visiting Wembley
Hi, I’m travelling to London next year with my wife and 2 children (12 & 9). We are looking to do lots of exploring & tourist things. We also have a gig at Wembley stadium on the last night too. Where would be an ideal location to stay so that we can explore, and that also isn’t too difficult to get back to from the gig at Wembley?

Stay anywhere central -- getting to Wembley is easy by either Tube or train. Arrivals are spread over several hours before events so no issues getting there. Getting back afterwards can be a mess depending on how large the event is - if its a full Wembley then crowd control leaving can add a LOT of time to any journey. Patience is of the essence.
There are 15 or 20 good central neighborhoods that would be great for a family viist. Main things are what is your budget, how long will you be in London, and what sort of property do you want. Quad rooms are available but less common - you'd want to search for a 'family room' and your kids are young enough that would work. If one was 16 or older than you'd really have to look for two hotel rooms.
Premier Inns are a chain that have 4 person family room and there are many scattered all over central London. What ever you do - don't ask for a hotel is they can add a 'cot' for the 4th person . . . Cot is Brit-speak for a baby crib. Your 9 year old would not be happy
Or of course you could rent a one or 2 bedroom apartment which would provide more space and a kitchen/kitchenette

You want to factor in where you are coming into London from, be it airport or train station. Travelling with all your bags, possibly jet lagged is somewhat more challenging than getting to and from Wembley. For example you might want to look at stations along the Elizabeth line train or the Piccadilly line tube if you will be coming into Heathrow.

Welcome to the Fodors boards. Not sure staying out in Wembley Park makes sense -- for the game/event sure - but not for the rest of their sightseeing. And definitely not if this is their last night in London and they need to get to LHR the next morning. They'd have to take the Jubilee line back into Bond Street and then the Elizabeth Line out to LHR.

Agree with Janisj. I am currently in London staying near Bond Street and found it easy to take the Elizabeth line and a few minute walk to our hotel. We did however arrive to our hotel at about 10pm and there were not many people around and we do not pack heavy so it was easy. When we used to travel as a family of four we would hire a car service. Renting an apartment or aparthotel can give you more space and eating in can save you quite a bit of money.
